The photo today is of the second of the two riders in the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation and Caribbean Equestrian Association (“CEA”) Junior Jumping Competition held on 27 June 2009. It was a great competition with the Cayman Island team winning the event.

For this photo of Ms. Jamie-Lauren McTaggart, Cayman's 16 and under rider, I was standing on the far side of the course looking through a jump. Like her team mate, Ms. McTaggart had a great competition with the best score in the 16 and under category with only 15 faults.

For those interested in obtaining additional information about the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation, please visit their website.

Strobist information: Canon 5D Mark II with a 200mm f/2.8 L II lens and natural light.

"

This week's posts will be from the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation and Caribbean Equestrian Association (“CEA”) Junior Jumping Competition held on 27 June 2009. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to shoot at this event. Unfortunately, I broke my collarbone a few hours after I attended and had not found the time to process the photos...until now :-). As an aside, I have been blogging about my experience regarding my broken collarbone and invite anyone who might be interested to read my blog.

For this photo of Ms. Ashley Scaletta, Cayman's 14 and under rider, I was standing essentially in the middle of the course with the next jump just to the right of me. Ms. Scaletta had an absolute superb competition with the best score in the 14 and under category with only 5 faults. A a matter of fact, it was the lowest of all the riders in the competition!

For those interested in obtaining additional information about the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation, please visit their website.

Strobist Information: Taken with a Canon 5D Mark II and 85mm f/1.2 L II lens using natural light.

n: form-data; name="file0_caption"

This was a great day to take photos at the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation and Caribbean Equestrian Association (“CEA”) Junior Jumping Competition held on 27 June 2009. The weather was overcast and as a result the temperature did not make everyone feel like we were in a sauna. I was also very lucky in that I was allowed to stand essentially in the middle of the course and was able to take photos from all angles.

It arrived! I received my new Elinchrom lighting equipment this past week and thought what better way to test than ask Max to pose for a few shots. He was only to happy to oblige and seemed very fascinated by this bright light that kept going off. It made for just a wonderful photo.

Strobist information: Canon 5D Mark II, 85mm f/1.2 L II, Elinchrom Ranger AS Speed packs x2 with Ranger Free Lite A Flash heads Camera Right and Camera Left against a white 10' x 20' Muslin backdrop.
