This picture was taken during the men’s bronze medal match at the North, Central America, and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) tournament held March 28 – 29, 2009 in the Cayman Islands. The Game was between Puerto Rica's Orlando Irizarry / Roberto Rodriguez and Canadians Ahren Cadieux / Richard Van Huizen. I am happy to report, being Canadian and all ;-) , that the Canadians won.

Getting into the Zone

This picture was taken immediately before the start of the North, Central America, and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) Gold Medal match between the first seeded Mexican team of Vanessa Virgen and Polet Cruz and the Cubans Nirian Sinal and Kirenia Ballar. The tournament was held on the Cayman Islands’ beautiful Seven Mile Beach between March 28 – 29, 2009. It was interesting watching each athlete prepare themselves for the match and get into the Zone.

The rugby ball seems to be the most difficult ball to retain control over. Anytime you think you have it, someone tackles you, hits you, grabs it and just plains knocks it out of your hands.The look on the Shark player's face is priceless, especially with her left hand extend towards the ball that was only there a second a go.Strobist Information: Canon 5D Mark II, 400mm f/5.6L, Natural light.

I love this photo as it captures action on and off the field. This was my first Rugby match that I attended. It is quite different from what I am use to...that being Canadian Football (and yes I mean the CFL, not soccer :-))I must admit it is a sport that I do not fully understand, but nevertheless have the utmost respect for the athletes who seem to never tire in the blazing heat and keep getting up after being dragged, piled on and tackled.Strobist Information: Canon 5D Mark II, 200mm f/2.8L, Natural Light.
